He hasn't asked me to marry him!

Melissa says:
My boyfriend tells me he wants to marry me all the time but I haven't seen a ring or heard a proposal, its more of actions speak louder than words thing on that part, but he takes care of me , never embarrassed of me when I'm not looking my best, I feel he loves me for me even tho I'm hard on him.
His birthday is coming up and I would love to marry him, i found the prefect engagement ring for him but I'm unsure if I should propose or just get the ring and wait until he does or just get him something else for his birthday.

There are clearly many positives in your relationship and it would be a shame if you spoiled it with your impatience. Guys who take care of you properly and are fanciable as well are not so easy to come by. It's perfectly understandable how you feel but you need to let it go until he's ready, and just get on with loving each other and getting ready to be a family. Focus on what you've already got rather than what you haven't yet.

Why do young people have sex so soon?

Sammi says:
Just wanted to get some views. Basically found out yesterday my 15year old sis has had sex. Now i can't judge because I two first had sex at 15, but the difference is I had a lot more crap going on and my bf at the time, made out he'd take me away from it all and love me forever blah blah, soon disappeared after and I wasn't in a good place to make a mature decision, just did it. Now there's 8years difference between us and I always hoped and talk to her about just waiting til 16 so she's a bit more mature and knows everything about sex and protection, brief detail, never promoted it. But she's done the same.
Why are children ranging from 12-15yrs having sex. I have a 2yr old daughter and I'm now worried that in the long future, is my daughter to going to be having sex young? Is it the schools fault for poor sex education or the parents? Are the friends they hang around with, encouraging it or promoting it as the cool thing to be doing as soon as possible? In the uk the law says 16 is the legal age to have sex and work, just like 17 to drive, 18 to drink. I've always thought 16 was young, sex affects you with out you realising at that age, I remember just feeling empty after, like oh that's all he wanted from me. It's happened now and I hope my sis had a better experience and never regrets it, but now it's the part of possible young pregnancy and I think that scares me more, don't want that for her or to consider abortion, you know what I mean, sex complicates everything if your not mature enough to deal with it like an adult. Yeh it's fun, and I was stupid when I was younger but is this society in the next decade still going to see an increase of under age sex, young pregnancies and more abortions due to this, or kids from broken homes, in foster care? More children on benefits because their not even legal to work yet and then have to claim for the rest of their life because they don't have qualifications as couldn't finish high school? It's just shocking and worrying now. You can see now in the 21st century, kids just don't stay kids and want to be adults straight away. But how do we slow them down and make them see being a child is a great thing and goes too quickly, you spend your whole life being an adult, it's boring! Sex is every where so I will talk to my kids at an appropriate age, but what's that age? I'm not one of those people, I have a health view on sex and will hopefully make sure my kids do too. 'm just asking.

If a teen wants to have sex, there's not a lot you can do to stop it directly. We can however help the situation a lot by providing lots of free non-judgemental help, education, advice and support, so they are fully aware of the consequences and the different mindsets of boys and girls, which basically boil down to this: boys have relationships to get sex, and girls have sex to get relationships.

This gives a shrewd girl a degree of power - she can set the terms, time and place. Boys who use the "you would if you love me" tactic can be responded with "if you love me you'll wait until I'm ready". On a practical note, any girl having unprotected sex needs in the first instance to get the morning after pill, and secondly get herself tested for chlamydia and HIV.

Guys and girls who are better informed and understand each other will make better decisions, but there will always be fools.

Will this preganancy be frowned upon?

Terra
A girl that is 18 years old high school senior dating a 21 year old guy. Graduating in May and just found out pregnant by the 21 year old

There is going to be frowning and disapproval all round, but it it is of course hardly unusual. This happens to couples all the time. The fact is, it's happened, and the two of them now have to decide what they want to do about it.

My menstrual cycle is longer since my wedding

Princess says:
I have a regular 30 day cycle before my wedding. But after my wedding my cycle becomes longer as it is of 39 days first month of wedding , 36 day second month of wedding and now i am due with my cycle length of 37 days. Also i have unprotected sex this month for first 19 days while had severe UTI. Can i be pregnant?

The pregnancy question has a quick answer - take a test, and soon! The sooner you know, the better. Regarding menstrual cycles, stress or sudden change of circumstances can certainly affect it - it is very susceptible to your state of mind, so I do not find this surprising. As you become settled into your new married status, it may settle down, but it depends on how stressful your circumstances are and your general state of health.

Boyfriend is not happy I'm pregnant

Anonymous says:

Ok so here's the deal: ever since i found out i was pregnant my boyfriend has been mean to me (hes excited and wants the baby) nd no this isnt just my horomones! Last night the first time in 3 years he hung up (we were in a fight) with out saying i love u nd before he would NEVER do tht. He dont feel the need to be with me all the time. Nd he dont always ask me what im doing. Nd no this isnt all in my head! Its like he thinks im stuck wih him because im pregnant so he can treat me how he wants. So wht im going to do is tell him im getting an abortion (im really not) and see if he treats me any different. If he does then screw him im done and going to focus on my baby!
Nd its not just those things like he cqlled me a ***** fr the first time EVER! Hes just been really different literally since the day he found out about the baby this was three weeks ago. Nd he wanted a baby so no hes not scared he already has a 9yo nd hes a really good dad. He usualy treats me like a princes.

The one thing you must absolutely NOT do is tell such a terrible lie. That will certainly not help matters. You are keeping the baby and that's that.
He is certainly having a hard time accepting you are pregnant. You need to nicely and calmly give him a choice. If he wants to stand by you, that's great but he has to be nice. If he can't handle it, tell him he doesn't have to, and you'll save up all your lovin' for your baby.
Having a baby is hard enough without a partner being mean and resentful, so he needs to shape up or ship out.
